NSW:Villawood detainees demand freedom

A group of detainees on the roof Sydney's Villawood Detention Centre are demanding
their freedom in return for ending their protest.

Speaking via mobile phone to Social Justice Network spokesman JAMAL DAOUD .. one Iranian
detainee has said he's been in the centre for 20 months .. describing it as prison.

Mr DAOUD says the protestors want to meet with the immigration department.

The protest was triggered after two men climbed onto the roof of the main centre early yesterday.

They were soon joined by 11 others .. and by midnight .. up to a hundred people were
involved .. vandalising and setting fire to buildings.
