QLD: Hunt continues for stab victim s attacker

Police have set up a major incident room and they have released the name of a man stabbed
to death in inner Brisbane suburban Fortitude Valley yesterday.

Police say the murdered man was 43-year-old PHILLIP GEORGE HARRIS, of nearby suburban New Farm.

Mr HARRIS died in the Royal Brisbane Hospital after he was stabbed near the Empire
Hotel in McLachlan Street, Fortitude Valley, shortly after 1pm.

Mr HARRIS tried to run away but collapsed on the footpath as at least two men and a
woman ran through the traffic to escape.

Police say they have set up the major incident room at the Fortitude Valley police
station and are appealing for eye witnesses to the stabbing to come forward.

A spokesman says anyone who witnessed the incident could contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
